Harsha Gooneratne, the elder brother of Thushara Gooneratne, Editorial Director and Editor-in-Chief of the national newspaper Mawrata, has passed away.
A past pupil of Nalanda College, Harsha Gooneratne was the son of senior journalist Elmo Gooneratne, who is widely regarded as one of the finest journalists to have emerged from Sri Lanka.
At the time of his passing, he was serving at Sri Lanka Cricket. He was 63 years old.
His remains will lie in state at the Jayaratne Respect Hall from 5.00 p.m. on Thursday. The final rites will be conducted at the Borella General Cemetery at 4.00 p.m. on Friday.
