The Department of Irrigation announces that there is a possibility of a major flood situation occurring in low-lying areas of Gampaha city and its surrounding Attanagalu Oya and Uruwal Oya basins within the next 6 hours.
The Department requests the residents of these areas — as well as shop owners in the city — to act with extreme caution in order to protect their lives and property.
Many areas within the Attanagalu Oya catchment are currently experiencing heavy rainfall.
This forecast has been issued based on the prevailing rainfall conditions and the analysis of water levels recorded at the river gauge stations maintained by the Department of Irrigation within the Attanagalu Oya basin.
