Maithripala Omits Informant’s Name on Easter Attack Revelation: CID’s Next Move Revealed! – Sri Lanka’s Latest News

Regarding a statement made in Kandy regarding the Easter attack, the Criminal Investigation Department recorded a statement yesterday (25) from former President and Member of Parliament Mr Maithripala Sirisena for more than five hours. Sri Lanka Latest News

Former President Maithripala Sirisena, who appeared before the Criminal Investigation Department at around 10.30 in the morning, left the Criminal Investigation Department at around 3.50 in the evening.

Information from the Criminal Investigation Department stated that Mr Maithripala Sirisena, who had entered the Criminal Investigation Department through its main entrance, faced the usual questioning.

The statement was recorded by an inspector rank officer in the presence of an Assistant Superintendent of Police and cross-examination too was done there.

Mr Maithripala Sirisena has said here that he got to know about the real criminals who allegedly carried out the Easter attack about three weeks ago. It is also stated that he has not made a clear disclosure as to who gave him the information. Here, a senior police officer stated that they would re-examine the information contained in the statement given by Mr Maithripala Sirisena to the Criminal Investigation Department and take further action according to the instructions of the Attorney General.

Sources stated that the Criminal Investigation Department is also ready to present facts to the court in the upcoming trial regarding the Easter attack regarding the statement obtained from Mr Maithripala Sirisena. –
