The Minister of Agriculture, Mahinda Amaraweera, in a statement to the media after the announcement that the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka did not know anything about getting the Macaques, stated that a Chinese company participated in 3 meetings for this.

The minister said that a written request has been made and the Chinese embassy has been informed about this.
