A state minister in Puttalam district unhappy over Anamaduwa Police’s new OIC appointment.! Get the posting cancelled. No OIC should be appointed without his approval.

According to high ranking sources, the Chief Inspector of Police, W.P.R., Mr. Abeynayake’s appointment has been suspended due to the intervention of a state minister in Puttalam district (19). He was posted as the Anamaduwa Police OIC was working in Negombo Division.

A high-ranking police officer of the area told Lankadeepa that it was learned from reliable sources that the Minister of State had pressured the higher authorities to cancel the appointment, claiming that he the  Anamaduwa OIC’s appointment was made  without the knowledge of the Minister of State.

It is said that some of the activities and some of the statements of the minister of state who allegedly intervened in the cancellation of this transfer have been the subject of intense controversy and discussion in the society.

  It has been learned from reliable sources that this state minister has also said that he will not allow the appointment of a police station commander in any police station in Puttalam district without his knowledge.

It is also reported from the same sources that a member of the ruling party in Puttalam district is very worried about the cancellation of the appointment of the Chief Inspector of Police who was appointed to the Anamaduwa police station.

Yesterday (18), the Inspector General of Police had informed through a special police message that Chief Inspector Abeynayake has been appointed as Police OIC with immediate effect, subject to the approval of the Secretary of the National Police Commission with the approval of the Secretary of the Ministry of Public Security and the Secretary of the Election Commission.

Sources at the police headquarters state that the Inspector General of Police has again issued a special police message stating that the appointment of Chief Inspector Abeynayake, who was appointed as the OIC Police station Anamaduwa yesterday, has been cancelled with in a day.
