Today, representatives from 26 liquor manufacturing companies visited the Excise Department in response to an official summons. During the meeting, the department issued a two-week deadline for all companies with unpaid taxes to settle their outstanding dues. The Excise Department warned that legal action would be taken against those failing to comply within the given timeframe.

Additionally, the alcohol producers were instructed to clear all tax arrears for 2023 and 2024 by November 30. Failure to meet this deadline will result in the non-renewal of liquor licenses for 2025.

The unpaid taxes for 2023 and 2024 amount to approximately 1.8 billion rupees. The Excise Department emphasized that the current government will not grant any amnesty in tax collection, urging all liquor manufacturers to pay their dues within the stipulated period.
