Lankadeepa first reported Mrs. Charles resigned, but now it appears she has not according to them!

Lankadeepa newspaper, which is owned by the family of Presidential Adviser and UNP Deputy Leader Mr. Ruwan Wijayawardena, is reporting special news today on Election Commission member Mrs. P.S.M. Charles has not resigned.

Accordingly, it is stated in the news that she has signed the gazette announcement related to the local government election that was sent to print yesterday.

But last January 25th, in special news, Lankadeepa newspaper had mentioned that Mrs. Charles had sent the letter to the President to resign from the Election Commission.

But today Lankadeepa newspaper has confirmed that the news is false and has stated that Mrs. Charles has signed the gazette sent by the Election Commission yesterday.

However, on many previous occasions, Lankadeepa newspaper had taken steps to publish many false news targeting the election in this way.

But we took steps to point out that the news published by Lankadeepa was false in all those cases.

Charles has signed the election gazette!

Sources of the Election Commission say that Mrs. P.S.M Charles has not withdrawn from the membership of the Election Commission.

It has been learned that a gazette notice related to the local government election has been sent to print and Mrs. Charles has also signed it.

The Chairman of the Election Commission also confirmed that Ms. Charles signed the gazette notice containing information related to youth votes.

A member of the Election Commission resigns!

Member of the Election Commission Ms. PSM Charles has resigned from the duties of the Commission.

Sources in the President’s Office state that the President has received Mrs. Charles’ letter of resignation.

The Constituent Assembly which met today (25) had also decided to call for applications to recruit new members for the Independent Commission including the Election Commission.
