Kaduwela Mayor Ranjan Jayalal Faces Backlash Over Verbal Abuse in Circulating Audio Clip
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

An audio clip purportedly featuring Kaduwela Mayor Ranjan Jayalal is currently circulating on social media.

The clip shows the mayor verbally abusing a lawyer and a group of individuals, sparking widespread discussion online.

The verbal confrontation occurred during a heated exchange between Mayor Jayalal and a group of people who had come to express their views on a particular issue.

In the clip, the mayor asserts that he holds authority in the matter, claiming he is examining the complaint as an “unofficial magistrate.” He also states that the lawyers have no power to interfere or influence him.

Towards the end of the recording, the mayor instructs the lawyer and the group to resign immediately, emphasizing that the location is not a court.

The incident has drawn criticism from the public, with many questioning how an elected representative could address both legal professionals and members of the public in such a manner.
