It was said that 66%! But, the electricity bill has risen by 251%! The government and the Minister hoodwink the public.

According to the new tariffs of the Electricity Board, the existing monthly electricity tariff of 214 rupees for consumers who consume up to 30 units of electricity per month has been increased by 251 percent to 753 rupees.

In that increase, the monthly fixed fee of the lowest electricity tariff tier for up to 30 electricity units including nearly 15 lakh customers has been made Rs. 400.

The electricity tariff of 677 rupees between 31 and 60 units has been raised by 221 percent to 2,178 rupees and the fixed tariff has become 550 rupees.

Between 61 and 90 electricity units, which used to be 1,625 rupees, the electricity tariff has been increased to 3970 rupees, and the percentage of tariff increase is 144 percent.

There are 1550,000 consumers between 31 and 60 electricity units and 14 lakh consumers between 61 and 90 electricity units.

By raising the electricity tariff of 3,358 rupees for consumers between 91 and 120 electricity units by 86 percent, the tariff has become 6,238 rupees.

The electricity tariff for the category between 121 and 180 electricity units, which was 5,467 rupees, has been increased to 8,347 rupees, and the percentage of tariff increase is 53 percent.

The electricity tariff of customers with more than 180 electricity units has been increased by only 18 percent and the tariff of that category which was 15,460 rupees has become 18,300 rupees.

The electricity board says that the tariff hike is effective from yesterday (15).
