According to the Supreme Court’s order to release the money earmarked for the local government election in the budget, it is unlikely that the Ministry of Finance will release the money properly, says Election Commission Chairman Nimal Punchiheva.

Accordingly, he says that there is no other option but to go to court again to get the money needed for the election.

The Chairman of the Election Commission has also said that it was the Samagi Jana Balawegaya who went before the court to get the money related to the election

The chairman also said that he is ready to present the facts to the court as the authority to conduct the elections.

However, as per the Supreme Court’s order, the Ministry of Finance has refused to give the necessary money to the Election Commission.
