Indian entrepreneurs have expressed their focus on new investment opportunities related to Sri Lanka’s energy, infrastructure, digital economy, tourism, and agriculture sectors, as well as on developing the capacity of entrepreneurs. Sri Lanka Latest News

With the aim of further expanding existing investment opportunities and exploring new ones, a delegation of about 20 Indian entrepreneurs, including heads of several leading Indian companies, is in Sri Lanka for an active program coordinated by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). The group mentioned this during a meeting with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake at the Presidential Secretariat.

This delegation is visiting Sri Lanka in response to an invitation extended during President Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s recent official visit to India. They have already held discussions with several Sri Lankan ministers as well as leading public institutions such as the Sri Lanka Board of Investment.

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake pointed out on this occasion that, along with the economic stability prevailing in Sri Lanka, a more suitable environment for investors has been created within the country.

The President also briefed the Indian entrepreneurs on the steps the government has taken to create a favorable economic climate and an investor-friendly environment in the country. He noted that the government has strengthened the legal framework and institutional systems necessary to facilitate large-scale investments and their continuity, while also working to prevent the losses and corruption that had occurred in past investments.

The President emphasized that special attention has been paid to attracting regional investors and providing them with the required facilities, further highlighting that there is ample opportunity for new business ventures between India and Sri Lanka across various sectors.

The Indian entrepreneurs, who pointed out that Sri Lanka’s strategic location is a significant attraction for investors, appreciated the President’s clear explanation of Sri Lanka’s current situation. They stated that it inspired them and gave them new hope.

Also present on this occasion were the Minister of Labour and Deputy Minister of Economic Development Professor Anil Jayantha Fernando, Senior Additional Secretary to the President Roshan Gamge, Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Santosh Jha, other officials of the Indian High Commission, as well as Sanjiv Puri, former Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Chairman and Managing Director of ITC Limited, along with heads of several leading Indian companies.
