The Indian Army Chief, General Upendra Dwivedi, is scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka on January 7, according to an announcement by the Indian Ministry of Defence.
General Dwivedi will undertake a two-day official visit to the country, during which he is expected to hold meetings with the Sri Lankan Army Commander, the Deputy Minister of Defence, the Defence Secretary, as well as several senior military and civilian officials.
During the visit, extensive discussions are scheduled to take place on matters of mutual interest, including training cooperation and regional security, among other key areas.
As part of his itinerary, the Indian Army Chief is also expected to meet officers of the Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) and engage with officers and trainees at the Buttala Military College.
In addition, General Dwivedi is scheduled to pay homage at the Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) Memorial in Colombo.
