Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephone conversation this evening with Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, extending India’s deep sympathy and support as Sri Lanka grapples with the aftermath of Cyclone Ditwah.

During the call, Prime Minister Modi expressed heartfelt condolences over the tragic loss of lives and the widespread devastation caused by the cyclone. He assured that the people of India stand firmly beside Sri Lanka during this difficult hour.

President Dissanayake conveyed his sincere gratitude for India’s swift and effective assistance, including the rapid deployment of rescue teams and relief supplies. He noted that the people of Sri Lanka deeply appreciate India’s timely response and unwavering support.

Reaffirming India’s commitment, Prime Minister Modi pledged continued assistance under Operation Sagar Bandhu, which is currently delivering rescue and relief to affected communities. He emphasized that India—guided by Vision MAHASAGAR and its role as the region’s “First Responder”—will extend all necessary help as Sri Lanka moves toward recovery, restores essential services, and works to rebuild livelihoods across impacted regions.

Both leaders agreed to remain in close contact as relief and rehabilitation efforts progress.
