During the term of the current leader of the opposition, Mr. Sajith Premadasa, as Housing Minister, there were numerous claims of fraud and corruption in the Cultural Fund.

Particularly, the United National Party led by President Ranil Wickramasinghe, the Pohottuwa led by Mahinda Rajapaksa, and the Janata Vimukthi Peramuna led by Anura Kumara Dissanayake have accused Mr. Sajith Premadasa of being involved for these frauds and corruptions.

In this regard, they had repeatedly accused Mr. Sajith Premadasa.

Today’s COPE committee meeting, on the other hand, featured a special debate about the cultural fund.

Mr. Sajith Premadasa’s innocence of any corruption was proven.

In a letter sent by the Bribery Commission, it was specifically noted that nothing has occurred in the cultural fund with the goal of initiating legal action.

The most notable occurrence, however, was Mr. Ranjith Bandara, chairman of the COPE Committee, accusing the opposition leader.
