After reaching a staff-level agreement with the International Monetary Fund, Sri Lanka will approach all creditors.
Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe, Governor of the Central Bank, stated on Thursday (17) that an IMF mission will visit Sri Lanka later this month.
“The IMF mission is planning to come here towards the end of the month, with the intention of completing and reaching a Staff-Level Agreement on the Policy Package,” the Governor said, adding that Sri Lanka will then approach creditors about debt restructuring.
He stated that Sri Lanka has already met the target and has policies in place to approach creditors.
According to the Central Bank Governor, reaching a Staff-Level Agreement will improve the situation in Sri Lanka.
“Once we meet the overall debt targets and the Staff-Level Agreement,” he said, “we will contact bilateral and commercial creditors.”
