Mr. Jagath Kumara, Colombo District Member of Parliament for Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, indicated that if the proposal to increase electricity tariffs is presented to the Parliament, they will undoubtedly vote against it, and that cutting electricity on the afternoon of Poya Day is not a good decision.

Mr. Jagath Kumara stated that the candidates of the Podujana Peramuna cannot go among the people while the prices of essential food and services continue to rise, and that the pressure on the people must be reduced in order for them to vote.

When the minister intervened and said that an imported egg will be sold for 25 rupees, local producers will sell an egg for 20 rupees. According to MP Jagath Kumara.

Mr. Jagath Kumara went on to say that bus owners who try to raise bus fares when the fuel price rises by one rupee will not lower the fares even if the fuel price falls by 25 rupees, and that the government must step in to control such situations.
