IGP says within 48 hours to be present at CID and make a statement  I Sri Lanka Latest News

Inspector General of Police Deshbandu Tennakoon stated that he has informed the former President to come and give a statement to the Criminal Investigation Department regarding the former President’s statement that he knew the mastermind of the Easter attack and that the former President will provide the relevant statement within 48 hours of the Criminal Investigation Department’s notification. (Sri Lanka Latest News)

The IGP further stated that further investigations will be initiated based on the President’s statement.

He made this statement today (24) after visiting the Asgiri Maha Vihara Viharaya Narampanave Ananda Thero in a statement to the media.

The Inspector General of Police said that after the former President’s statement was reported by the media, Public Security Minister Tiran Alas ordered him to conduct an immediate investigation.

The IGP said that if there is any threat to the security of the former President based on the relevant statement, formal measures can be taken regarding his security after discussing with the minister in charge of the subject.

The Inspector General of Police said that the former president cannot be arrested based on this statement, and that means people who have no understanding of the law, and pointed out that the arrest will be made if necessary at the end of the investigations.
