Reports have emerged regarding a tense incident involving a female pilot and a co-pilot on a SriLankan Airlines flight that was nearing a significant accident.
The situation reportedly escalated during a flight from Sydney, Australia, to Colombo due to a disagreement between the pilot and co-pilot. Witnesses indicated that a heated exchange of words occurred between the two, prompting other crew members to intervene in an attempt to restore order.
According to sources, the co-pilot left the cockpit to use the restroom while the aircraft was in motion. At this time, another cabin crew member was required to enter the cockpit to assist the pilot. It has been noted that the cockpit door was closed prior to this crew member’s entry.
The conflict intensified when the captain, who remained in the cockpit, refused to reopen the door for the crew member despite communication attempts via telephone.
After the flight safely landed in Colombo, the co-pilot lodged a formal complaint regarding the incident, prompting the Civil Aviation Authority to initiate an investigation.
In response to the situation, SriLankan Airlines confirmed that an investigation will take place and expressed its commitment to fully support the relevant authorities and institutions involved.
