Over 2 billion rupees worth of respiratory drugs bought for respiratory diseases among children have expired as Covid-19 precautions made those medicines unnecessary, Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said.
“There were 2 billion rupees worth of stuff that was expired. Children had the hand washing and masks due to Covid and because of that, all the respiratory issues have come down,” Rambukwells in an interview told EconomyNext on Thursday (13).
“Most of the children up to 7-8 years have respiratory issues because of the tropical climate.”
“That really came to almost zero and the medicines that were ordered for that, including syrups and various things, expired.”
