Monitoring organizations have requested that the presidential election be announced immediately. Sri Lanka Latest News

The power to announce the presidential election was transferred to the Election Commission yesterday (16) after midnight.

The Election Commission stated that, accordingly, the presidential election is expected to be announced before the end of this month.

The Institute for Democratic Reforms and Electoral Studies said that due to the Electoral Commission’s delay in announcing the date of the presidential election, government ministries are being pressured to carry out various tasks for the promotion of their candidate by crediting money through the President’s Office.

The Pafrel organization has also requested the Election Commission to announce the presidential election as soon as possible.
