Sri Lanka Latest News

The minister points out that the law has become inoperative under the current proportional election system for incidents such as illegal acts, bribery, and extortion during parliamentary elections.

Accordingly, the Minister said that the Election Expenses Regulation Act No. 03 of 2023 was submitted to the Parliament with the full support of the Election Commission for a democracy where the rule of law has been changed and the rule of law has been established.

Due to this, Minister Dr Wijayadasa Rajapaksa said that he requested the Election Commission to take the necessary steps to implement the Act for the upcoming elections.
