Government is to gazette medicinal hemp cultivation! I Sri Lanka Latest News

Minister of State for Indigenous Medicine Mr. Sisira Jayakodi said in Parliament that the approval required to cultivate medicinal hemp will be announced through the gazette notification of the Ayurvedic Code. Sri Lanka Latest News

Mr. Sisira Jayakodi said that not only hemp but many more medicines are imported and these should be promoted as commercial crops or traditional medicine will disappear.

The state minister also mentioned that Ayurvedic practitioners and practitioners will be given training at “NVQ Level 4” level and registered in Ayurveda.

Mr. Sisira Jayakodi mentioned this while presenting the Ayurveda Amendment Bill to Parliament.

The State Minister for Local Medicine also mentioned that the name of Borella Ayurveda General Hospital will be amended as Ayurveda National Hospital.

Mr. Jayakodi said that the aim of the Act is to make the Ayurveda Department more efficient and mentioned that the position of Ayurveda Commissioner will be promoted to the position of Ayurveda Commissioner General by this Act.
