Government Digitization Fails: 20 Data Systems Ineffective, 1700 Crores Wasted on Projects | Sri Lanka Latest News

The audit reports have revealed that the data systems installed at the cost of crores of rupees in about twenty government institutions including the Inland Revenue Department are currently in operational condition.Sri Lanka Latest News

State Minister Lasantha Aghiawanna, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Government Accounts (COPA Committee), who is currently commenting on this matter, says that the data system of the Inland Revenue Department, which was installed with 1700 crore rupees, is also not working.

He also mentioned that the data systems of many government institutions have not worked.

Mr. Alagiyawanna also pointed out that digitization is very important to make the government agency efficient and increase revenue, but it should be implemented formally.

The audit reports show that public service has been hampered due to the failure of data systems in many institutions.
