The government has issued a statement clarifying that former presidents have not been stripped of any officially owned property.
In an announcement signed by the Director General of Government Information, H. S. K. J. Bandara, the department addressed media reports from today (19th) claiming that “three vehicles provided to Mahinda will be reclaimed.”
The statement confirms that out of the 16 vehicles previously in the possession of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, 8 have been returned, while 11 vehicles are currently under the custody of former President Ranil Wickramasinghe.
