Government Accused of Selling Recently Upgraded Hilton Hotel at Underestimated Price of $41.5 Million: Anti-Corruption Voice Convener Alleges Corruption | Sri Lanka Latest News
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Mr. Wasantha Samarasinghe, the convener of the Anti-corruption Voice organization, accuses the government is preparing to sell the Hilton Hotel, which was recently renovated and upgraded from five-star to seven-star class, for 41.5 million dollars. Sri Lanka Latest News

Hilton Hotel consists of 300 rooms and the hotel owns seven and a half acres of land.

This is 100% government-owned property.

The proposal to sell the Hilton Hotel was presented some time ago, and last year the value of the hotel was estimated at 124 million US dollars.

The value of the hotel has been assessed again this year, and it has been lowered from last year’s estimated price of 124 million dollars to 55 million US dollars.

The latest valuation has been reduced to $55 million, and the Hilton is set to sell for an even lower price of $41.5 million.

Alleging that this is a very corrupt transaction, Mr Wasantha Samarasinghe also alleges that the intervention of the highest authority of the government is behind this transaction to find money for the election.
