Wasantha Mudalige, a social activist, said in Colombo today (June 19) that a new political alliance called the People’s Struggle Alliance will be formed to lead the country to the change in society that was expected by the ‘golf face fighters’ after Gotabhaya Rajapaksa was removed from the presidency. “The people of the country asked for a change in the system. When Ranil Wickramasinghe came to power, he implemented programs that dragged him to the bottom of the crisis within the current system. When Ranil Wickremesinghe assumed office in 2022, the country’s debt was 84 billion dollars. 2024 debt has become 100 billion dollars. We invite the people to move forward with a new political program instead of falling behind the crisis.” He further said.
