Its secretary Dr. Haritha Aluthge said that the protests will intensify when representatives of the International Monetary Fund arrive on September 14.
“Many of our members our trade unions went to the President’s Secretariat and asked for an opportunity for a discussion, but what we realize is government take our patience in a wrong manner and try to put our issues under the carpet and get away we must say to them that they are sadly mistaken”. If the rulers try to misuse our patience, we have decided to give the suitable reply this time. When the IMF team comes on September 14, let’s take our protest process to the maximum.”
Senior Lecturer Charudatta Ilangasinghe, Vice President of the Federation of University Doctors Association, said that the discussion requested from the President to discuss the issues has not been given so far.
“The government has not yet been able to announce the answers to this. In particular, the government has not yet been able to say how to amend the tax policy. We are ready to come and tell the government this issue as the union of professionals for them to feel it.”
