Four fundamental rights petitions have been filed in the Supreme Court to prevent Mr Deshabandu Tennakon from acting as the Acting Inspector General of Police and to issue an order to prevent him from assuming the position of Inspector General of Police. Sri Lanka Latest News
Derana court reporter said that these petitions were filed by the Archbishop of Colombo Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith, the Lawyers for Truth and Justice organization, three victims of the Easter attack, and an activist.
It is stated that the Attorney General, the Legislative Council and the Acting Inspector General of Police Mr. Deshbandu Tennakon have been named as respondents in these petitions.
