Police have revealed details regarding the man who was shot dead near the Bolgoda Bridge in the Bandaragama Police Division.
According to police, the victim was a former prison officer.
The shooting occurred yesterday (21) evening, when the man, who was traveling in a car near the Bolgoda Bridge, was attacked by two unidentified individuals on a motorcycle. He died at the scene.
The deceased has been identified as a 57-year-old resident of Pinwala, Panadura.
Police suspect that a T56 firearm was used in the attack, though the motive behind the shooting remains unclear. It has also been reported that the attackers fired more than 20 rounds at the victim.
The Bandaragama Police have launched further investigations to apprehend the suspects.
