Former Chairman of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC), Dhammika Ranatunga, has been arrested by the Bribery Commission.
According to the Commission, the arrest was made in connection with allegations that he caused a loss of nearly Rs. 800 million to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation by cancelling three long-term fuel procurement tenders for the period 2017–2018 and instead awarding fuel purchases through spot tenders at higher prices.
The suspect is due to be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court.
