Mr. Mahinda Deshapriya, the former chairman of the Election Commission, said that the local government elections which were postponed by the government saying that there is no money, must be held, and all the parties who said that the elections were necessary are silent about it today.
He said that the current government does not have any mandate, and the people who have the mandate are not in those positions today.
However, Mr. Mahinda Deshapriya did not say anything about the affairs of the delimitation commission appointed by his chairmanship and some had accused that the president appointed this delimitation commission intending to postpone the local government elections.
