A former superintendent of Boossa Prison was shot and killed in the Thalagaha area of Akmeemana, Galle.
According to the Akmeemana Police, an unidentified gunman arrived at the victim’s residence this afternoon (13), carried out the shooting, and fled the scene.
The former prison officer, a 61-year-old retiree, succumbed to his injuries on the spot. Reports indicate that he had retired from service in March last year.
As of now, the identity of the perpetrator and the motive behind the murder remain unknown. Akmeemana Police have launched a thorough investigation into the incident.
