The Registrar of Courts has been directed to notify the Controller of Immigration and Emigration regarding the foreign travel ban imposed on former President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s Secretary, Saman Ekanayake.

This order was issued by Fort Magistrate Ms. Nilupuli Lankapura.

Saman Ekanayake served as Secretary to the President at the time of the incident that led to the arrest and remand of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

He had been summoned to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) a few days prior to Mr. Wickremesinghe’s appearance and provided a statement concerning the questionable use of funds.

According to police, investigations are ongoing into the role of former Presidential Secretary Saman Ekanayake in granting approval for funds related to the foreign trip of former President Wickremesinghe, who is currently in remand custody.

Deputy Inspector General of Police (Legal) Kalinga Jayasinghe revealed this information during a special police media briefing held yesterday (23), which addressed the arrest of Ranil Wickremesinghe and the continuing investigations.
