Today(19 )is 14 years since the victory of the war.

The ceremony was held under the chairmanship of the President at the Battaramulla Ranaviru Precinct.

A large number of people including the Speaker, the Prime Minister, the Leader of the Opposition and former military commanders were seen together.

However, notably  that the President who won the war, the Minister of Defense as well as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mahinda Rajapaksa, the former Defense Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa or the Acting Minister of Defense at the time of winning the war, Maithripala Sirisena, were not present at this event.

It is not clear whether this group did not come despite being invited as a protest or as a protest.

But this group had participated in the celebrations of war heroes for the last 13 years and it is also noteworthy  that they did not participate this time.

On the other hand, after the capture of Toppigala at that time, Mr. Ranil Wickramasinghe, who was the leader of the opposition at that time, had to face a lot of opposition from the Rajapaksas and the government due to his levelling it to a jungle.
