Following Pohottuwa MPs’ opposition to yesterday’s meeting, the government convenes another meeting of government parliamentarians I SriLanka Latest News

Steps have been taken to convene a special meeting for all the parties representing the government tomorrow at 5 pm at the Presidential Secretariat.

It is reported that the Prime Minister’s office has taken steps to officially invite all the parties representing the government for that.

The government had taken steps to convene a similar meeting at the President’s Secretariat yesterday, but the majority of Pohottuwe district leaders had boycotted the meeting.

The reason for this was that the representatives including the district leaders of Pohottuwa were invited to this meeting separately from the government side without giving an official notification to Pohottuwa.

While inviting Mr. Namal Rajapaksa for the meeting, Namal Rajapaksa MP had also mentioned to the concerned parties that it is appropriate to invite Pohottuva as a party instead of inviting him individually.

Also, on a previous occasion, a meeting was organized at the President’s Secretariat under the chairmanship of the President, where the General Secretary of Pohottu, Mr. Sagara Kariyawasam, took steps to express his strong objection to it in front of the President.
