The special independent committee appointed to review the salary increase of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka has revealed facts in its report that how the Central Bank of Sri Lanka increased salaries by 50 per cent was wrong and unethical and that its leaders could consider the country’s situation before increasing the salaries. Sri Lanka Latest News

It has been stated in the report that it is wrong to bring the top and bottom officers of the big banks under the same collective agreement and the collective agreement should be divided into two based on individuals.

This committee was appointed by President Ranil Wickremesinghe last March on the recommendations of the Parliamentary Committee on Government Finance.

Dr. Indrajith Coomaraswamy, Sudharma Karunaratne, Nihal Fonseka, Anushka S Wijesinghe, Arjuna Herath Duminda Hulangamuwa and KVC Dilrakshi were other members of this committee headed by Mr. Dinesh Weerakkodi.

The committee states that management assistants and office assistants of the Central Bank should be equal to other staff in the country and they should not be given separate salary increments for having worked in the Central Bank.
