Sri Lanka has decided to issue a call for Expressions of Interest (EOI) in order to resurrect its flag carrier, Sri Lankan Airlines.
Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva stated that the private sector will be offered 49% of SriLankan Catering for investment.
Furthermore, Sri Lanka will provide 49% of SriLankan Airlines Ground Handling while the state will retain 51%.
According to the Minister, if Sri Lanka offers more than 50%, the country will lose its landing rights; however, if Sri Lankan investors band together and offer 51%, the government will consider such an investment.
Sri Lanka Airlines’ total debt, according to Aviation Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva, is USD 1.126 billion, or approximately Rs. 401 billion.
