Engineers Report Gradual Improvement in Kelani, Kalu, and Atthanagaluoya Flood Situation”

Ms. Sakura Diltara, Engineer of the Irrigation Department stated that the dangerous situation in Kelani Ganga, Kalu Ganga and Atthanagaluoya is already gradually disappearing.Sri Lanka Latest News

Due to this, it is expected that the water level in Gampaha, Jaela, Wattala, Minuwangoda, Katana areas affected by the flood will gradually decrease today.

Meanwhile, she further mentioned that the water level in the lower areas of the Kelani Ganga Basin such as Kaduwela, Byagama, Kolonnawa, Wattala and Colombo is gradually decreasing.

Mr. Wasantha Senadheera, senior geologist of the National Building Research Organization, says that the risk of landslides continues.

Meanwhile, the Disaster Management Center says that the number of people affected by the bad weather conditions that have affected the island has exceeded 161,000.

Its director Mr. Pradeep Kodippili mentioned that the number of dead has increased to 21.
