The Opposition Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) protested outside Parliament today against the increase in electricity tariffs.
Several Opposition MPs took part in the protest, including SJB and Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa and Tamil Progressive Alliance (TPA) leader Mano Ganesan.
Sajith Premadasa, MP, asked reporters if the government had extended an invitation to form an All-Party Government in order to distribute the US dollars obtained through financial malpractices involving the Norchcholai Coal Power Plant.
MP Premadasa stated that the offer to form an All-Party Government was made at a time when the entire country was plunged into darkness due to an increase in electricity charges.
He pointed out that the government is still burdening the public with such financial malpractices at a time when they are already facing severe hardships.
