The Election Commission has issued a notice to provincial governors to immediately cancel illegal appointments and suspend any pending appointments, according to Sri Lanka Latest News.
The Commission emphasized that granting such positions is illegal while election law is in effect.
Steps have been taken to communicate this in writing to the President’s Secretary.
