Eight districts are vulnerable to heat shocks! An alarming situation! Heat stroke is imminent! Children, be cautious! Met department spells out precautions! VIDEO I Sri Lanka Latest News

The Department of Meteorology states that the heat index has increased in eight districts including Colombo. Sri Lanka Latest News

Accordingly, the hot index in the districts of Colombo, Gampaha in the Western Province, Kurunegala and Puttalam in the North-Western Province, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa in the North-Central Province, Trincomalee in the Eastern Province and Hambantota in the Southern Province is at a level that requires attention.

The heat index in these districts is between 39 and 45, and because of this, exposure to sunlight and engaging in activities for a long time will cause fatigue, and due to engaging in activities for a long time, dehydration and loss of saliva can cause muscle spasms.

The Department of Meteorology is urging the public to drink plenty of water, take care of the elderly and sick, and not leave small children alone in vehicles due to the hot conditions.
