The Court of Appeal has dismissed with costs the petition filed by the Minister of State, Mrs. Diana Gamage, requesting an order to revoke her as a Member of Parliament. (Sri Lanka Latest News)
Judge Nishanka Bandula Karunaratne, President of the Court of Appeal, said that the relevant petition will be dismissed based on the agreement of the majority of judges of the three-member Court of Appeal.
Mr Oshala Hearath, a social activist, had submitted the petition requesting that it be ruled that Ms Diana Gamage is not qualified to be elected, sit and vote in Parliament under the Constitution of the country as she is a holder of British citizenship.
However, the petitioner Mr. Oshala Herath stated that the verdict was announced as two to one by the panel of judges.
