The Colombo Fort Magistrate has rejected the request made by the Fort Police to name Hirunika Premachandra, Rehan Jayawickrama and ten others as suspects.
This is for protesting in front of the Fort President’s House on July 06.
Hirunika Premachand, Rehan Jayawickrama and ten others were issued notices by the Fort Police to appear before the Fort Magistrate’s Court this morning.
The panel of lawyers who appeared on behalf of Hirunika and others pointed out to the court that the police’s request to the court to name the relevant persons as suspects was illegal.
Accordingly, the Fort Magistrate’s Court has rejected the request of the Fort Police to name Hirunika and others as suspects.
