CIABOC to Open Provincial Offices Across Sri Lanka to Strengthen Anti-Corruption Efforts

The Commission for the Investigation of Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has announced plans to establish new offices across all nine provinces in Sri Lanka, aiming to streamline its operations, according to Director General Ranga Dissanayake.

Speaking before the Parliamentary Committee on Public Finance, Dissanayake highlighted that managing all investigations, raids, and litigation solely from the head office in Colombo has become increasingly challenging under the current circumstances.

The proposed expansion is expected to make it easier for the public to lodge complaints related to bribery and corruption, particularly in areas outside Colombo, while also accelerating the overall investigation process.

Economic analysts have emphasized that curbing corruption in the public sector is crucial to maintaining the country’s economic stability, especially amid the ongoing war situation in the Middle East. As part of this initiative, plans are also underway to deploy teams of qualified officers at the provincial level in the coming months.
