Yesterday, President Ranil Wickremesinghe had taken steps to appoint former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga as the senior adviser of the National Joint Mechanism on Food Security and Nutrition.
It will be implemented under the leadership of President’s Secretary Mr. Saman Ekanayake.
However, within a few hours of receiving this letter, former President Mrs. Chandrika has taken steps to send a reply letter to the President rejecting the position.
In that letter, she has indicated that she has refused office facilities or all other privileges reserved for her.
A spokesperson of the former president’s office confirmed this during an inquiry made by ‘Mawrata’ in this regard.
