His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, the Archbishop of Colombo, has demanded that President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and the Government step down immediately.
The Rajapaksa family’s continued hold on power, despite the fact that the majority of the population doesn’t trust them in any way, is the biggest barrier to the country’s liberation, he said in a statement.
While speaking to the media today, the Archbishop demanded that the Rajapaksas in power quit immediately.
Under these conditions, “they have no moral right to continue in government anymore and should hand power back to the people without inflicting further agony on them,” he stated.
