The units of the “CAL Three Year Closed End Fund” were officially listed on the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) recently. Accordingly, a total of 841,263,375 units of the ‘CAL Three Year Closed End Fund’ were listed by Capital Alliance Investments Ltd (CALI), a member of the Capital Alliance Ltd Group (CAL Group). The listing was commemorated by way of a special bell ringing ceremony on the CSE trading floor.

CSE CEO Rajeeva Bandaranaike speaking at the occasion remarked upon the rising demand for Unit Trusts: “When you look at funds, particularly unit trusts in today’s active capital market, we see a lot of domestic interest in the market with more investors entering. Funds, not only fixed income funds but also growth and balanced funds, can be the ideal vehicle through which new investors can enter the market. We see this interest reflected in the success of CAL’s Three Year Closed End Fund. More people are seeking to invest their money through professional fund managers.”

The events keynote speaker Vevaashgar Vathanatheesan, Assistant Vice President of Capital Alliance Investments Ltd, remarked upon CALI’s investment strategy, saying: “Our investment approach focuses on carefully selected fixed income instruments, supported by strict internal credit filters, defined exposure limits, and continuous monitoring of liquidity and refinancing risks. At CAL, we follow one clear philosophy: preserve capital first, grow capital second. For investors, the fund offers predictable cash flow visibility, professional credit oversight, diversified exposure within defined risk boundaries, and alignment with Sri Lanka’s stabilizing yield environment. In a recovering economy, predictability becomes increasingly valuable.”

Further remarking upon the role of the unit trust, he remarked: “Beyond this launch, our broader vision remains clear. As confidence strengthens and market participation expands, structured investment vehicles will play a key role in channelling savings into productive economic activity and supporting capital market development.”

Established in 2012, CALI specializes in operating unit trusts and providing private wealth management services and as a subsidiary of CAL Group, benefits from the group’s expertise in capital market services, including stock brokering, primary dealing, asset management, and corporate finance. In 2025 CALI brought the CAL Five Year Closed End Fund to the market, and in 2024 they brought the CAL Five Year Optimum Fund.  The “CAL Three Year Closed End Fund” is a close ended fixed income unit trust scheme with a three-year tenure, approved by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC).
