The cabinet has approved the preparation of a master plan for the development of Hambantota district. Sri Lanka Latest News

On 26.06.2018, the Cabinet of Ministers has approved the assignment of consultancy services to Sarbana Jurong Private Company to prepare a ‘Greater Hambantota’ regional model plan and a detailed master plan for the main growth centers.

But that decision has not yet been implemented.

The government has now decided to give priority to the development of Hambantota district.

Accordingly, it has been recognized that it is appropriate to allow Sarbana Jurong Private Company, which is responsible for preparing the master plan for the development of Colombo city and the Western Province and for the development of the Eastern Province Strategic Tourism Zone, to prepare the master plan for the development of Hambantota District.

Accordingly, the proposal presented by the President to hand over this work to the said company has been approved by the Cabinet.
