The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) of the United Kingdom is encouraging civil society organisations to apply for grants from the “John Bunyan Fund” to address religious intolerance in Sri Lanka. The 50,000 sterling pound grant, part of the Magna Carta Fund for Human Rights and Democracy, aims to increase tolerance and improve adherence to inclusion, equity, and justice principles among religious scholars and communities.
In its 2019 Human Rights and Democracy report, the FCO emphasised the importance of religious or belief freedom for all. The project is scheduled to be completed between September and March of next year.
