According to the latest report issued by the National Audit Office, more than one crore and seventy lakh rupees were paid as bonuses to the employees of the State Pharmaceutical Corporation of Sri Lanka despite being informed that they should not be paid bonuses according to the relevant agreement. The report also shows that these bonuses have been paid as they are twenty thousand rupees per employee.
Commenting on this, the management of the corporation says that the collective agreement has approved the payment of annual bonuses.
The Audit Division has recommended proceeding as per circular provisions.
The audit report states that although the staff officers were informed that the loan facilities should be temporarily suspended, 26 officers were paid more than 600,000 rupees monthly.
Officials of the Sri Lanka State Pharmaceutical Corporation, who give information regarding the matter, say that money will not be provided under the advance account.
Accordingly, the audit officers have recommended that the circular provisions should be followed.
Meanwhile, the report shows that although employee leave should be calculated in accordance with the provisions of the Offices and Shops Act, in the year 2022, almost 5 crore rupees worth of allowances have been paid for the remaining leave of employees.
Commenting on this matter, the officials of Sri Lanka State Pharmaceutical Legalized Corporation say that the relevant approval is covered by the collective agreement.
However, the audit departments have informed us that they should proceed as per the circular provisions.
Meanwhile, the audit report shows that even though a risk management committee was ordered to be appointed to take appropriate measures to reduce the risks of the institution, the said committee had not been appointed by March 31 of this year.
Commenting on this, the management says that they are working to establish the risk management committee.
Meanwhile, the National Audit Office said that 36 units of four fixed asset items of computers and devices purchased for the establishment of an enterprise resource planning system for the corporation were unused in the warehouse as of March 17.
Commenting on this, the administration says that these computer devices will be used for other departments of the institution as per the need and will be taken care of so that there is no loss. –
